merry christmas

Midnight mass at St. Mary's in Monroe was extremely beautiful. The choir was accompanied by their huge pipe organ, a timpani, and a trumpet. Very nice. Father Mark was great, place was full but considering the spacious nature of the building, it didn't feel cramped.

Only thing that stunk was how much pain I was in when I tried to get some sleep, and couldn't get any until well past four in the morning. I'd have taken some Naprosen, but that would've required foodage. :\ It was just one of those achy nights.

We don't do the big family Christmas stuff until later--next week, I think--so it was just me, Mom, Dad, and Katie. And the pets. :] It was nice. I got a pair of outfits, a new winter jacket, slippers, some hats, gloves, and pajamas. I was a little suprised, though; there's usually one tech/movie/game-type gift mixed in, but...Mom had hidden an iPod Nano in my stocking. I hadn't expected that. Finally--an mp3 player with a screen again! Hooray! And a Target giftcard to use at my leisure. Might get Watchmen on Blu-ray.

Christmas dinner was turkey and oh Lorddddd it was so good. Extremely tender. And Mom's cornbread stuffing is superior to any you may have had in your life. You can't argue because you just. Don't know. Asldfa. Dad's in a turkey coma right now.

The weather's just been really gross, though. Gray and rainy and gray and bleaugh. It's like February or something. I hope it's a little nicer tomorrow.

Yes, iTunes store, I will purchase things from you. It all depends on what...

Merry Christmas, FL. I love you all in your own special way and you know this. And if you didn't...now you do. And even if you don't do the Christmas thang, you can at least take my good vibes that go with the salutations, right?

Sunday was the Melton-side Christmas party, and all was fairly well, until Grampa said grace and broke down. Well, it's his first Christmas without Gramma.

I did manage to get a talking fly swatter out of the white elephant game. I did it to keep my Dad from getting it. It's for the greater good, I promise.

Goodies for me )

I wonder what kinds of things I ought to record to try out the new camera. Suggestions?

You know what happens in exactly one week? AWESOME. That's what. The kind where [livejournal.com profile] ruffwriter and [livejournal.com profile] tyrannicalalien join together to fight the forces of evil with our giant, sentient, animalian robots that combine to form a superrobot with many the ninja skill.

More or less. I mean, might go easy on the destruction part if I am still feeling sick.

Yeah, fuck you, cold virus. You always come at inopportune times. I will get my vengeance. Somehow.

Sketchy )

Time to prepare for the Christmas mass. Battling for seats, ohohoho.

Wonderful Christmas this year. Everyone was real happy, the family shindig was enjoyable, the masses were fabulous, and Mom's food is A++ will buy again.

My haul-in )

If you haven't gotten a card yet, panic not; I still have eight more to go, ahaha. CHRISTMAS ISN'T OVER TILL THE EPIPHANY ANYWAY.

Christmas was gooooood. Good food, lots of fun. Dad was delighted when he opened up the gift I bought him--a 20 inch replica of the leg lamp from A Christmas Story. It is now..very much right next to this monitor. Not an hour goes by that he doesn't say "It's indescribably beautiful!" Harhar.

Lots of nice things all around. I got this beautiful hardcover book called World's Greatest Super-Heroes that's illustrated by the amazing Alex Ross. It's gorgeous. And I got a wonderful Beatles hoodie that's extra long and warm. And new slippers, that I was dying for. And earmuffs. Has anyone else noticed how insanely HARD it is to find earmuffs at a decent price? Cause it IS.
Hmm. And Sly 2. That game is excellentfun. And a little iPod case thingy. And Forrest Gump. :D And Office Space. :D And another Coldplay CD. X) And some other wonderful things. I missed dinner with Steve's folks; I'm sure he's not too happy with that, but I'll spend the day with him to make up for it. 50% off calendars! Woo!

Mmmm. Church was wonderful tonight. :D Very beautifully done.

And then my fam' and Steve had dinner, and watched some movies and stuff. Steve got me a white gold necklace with a purple stone and a diamond on it. *faint* It is very pretty. And a black knit scarf that is so long and warm! And Anchorman. Even though...I kind of bought it for him. XD Oh well! We think alike.

Hmm...what else? I watched History Channel all day, this "History of God" special was on that was pretty interesting. Then I played Shadow of the Colossus again and beat it again. This time on hard! And it was hard. But I win. WINNER IS ME.

Merry Christmas, y'all! And if you don't celebrate it, consider it a universal well-wishing.

No one is getting their Christmas cards on time. I swear. Hey, hey--I got the Halloween gift done on time; I'm only allowed one punctual image per year.

But yeah. Comicking and this...other image have gotten me sidetracked. And friends. Dorks. Whateveryoucallthems. Took me to a Thai restaurant today. Spicy food, me no likey, but hey, it was fun watching them sweat under the collar. Then we watched A Fish Called Wanda, because that movie is amazing.

Sooo. Yeah. Family Christmas shindig tomorrow. Hoooooboy.
