I always assumed that you were rewarded for studying good for something. How did I get a D on my math test? I don't get it. I guess I'm not allowed to be good at anything practical (art isn't practical in this world, I've learned). I just. Ngrrrgh, I don't know. I wish I was at least a little competent, enough to pass a non-credit, below-the-college-minimum level of math, so that I don't have to keep re-taking it. It is just so teeth-grindingly frustrating. Daddy says, "You're just not good at it; you can't be good at everything. It's just not your thing, so don't let it get you down." Daddy, I just want to be DECENT at it. I'm not even that. I'm not your 4.0 daughter anymore.
God, I was in such a horrible mood when I got into the car to go home Thursday night. I felt like I was useless at everything. Daddy is a marvelous human being, though, and had through some series of events been loaned a copy of a Mystery Science Theater 3000 DVD that we watched that night. "Santa Claus Conquers Mars." Oh my God, you have no idea what perfect medicine it was. I really needed that. It was so gut-wrenchingly horrible that Dad and I were just..haha, you have no idea. Mom couldn't take it.
So today, I had a 40% off coupon, and I got a box set of the show. A B-movie "Hamlet" is on the list, along with something called "Girl in Gold Boots". It'll be interesting. I took Katie along with me to get it, since I also had to buy gifts for baby Kayla and Sarah Jean. Got the baby a Jasmine pillow with a little Rajah kitten that can come out of it, and I got S.J. two princess dolls. Aurora and Jasmine. Because they're the prettiest ones out of the bunch. If I was still little, I'd have gotten those, too.
I let Katie window shop a bit, and then got the aforementioned DVDs. During the trip, I may or may not have bumped into Quilla's dad. He turned and said "Laura?" and we kind of stared at each other blankly till he said "Uh, nevermind, must've gotten you mixed up." I walked away and it took me a painfully long time to realize and go OH CRAP. XD Whoops.
( Things you don't care about )
Anyhow, on to things that don't utterly alienate me from my friends. I am becoming addicted to the International Music Feed. Ever since I saw that damn Thoroughblend video, I have been scouring for the song ("Halo"). WHERE THE HELL IS IT. FJIEOSFJIOesd. Come ON, Japanese music bitches. GIMME. Also they played the video for "Jerusalem" by Matisyahu. CAN I LOVE HIM ANY MORE THAN I ALREADY DO?
I tried to watch The Polar Express. But ugh. The model designs were so ugly, and their movement so...fake. Yeuch. And wtf, Santa had NO WRINKLES. Unjust. He looked like a ceramic doll. ):< Come on, 3D. You have textures, USE THEM. And the elves looked like convicts.
Also,
ruffwriter had this thing.
