Somewhere around an hour or so ago I started getting really irate and angry for no explicable reason whatsoever and it was confusing and weird and more irritating. In order to find a way to exact and exorcise said irritation I directed it at my art. As usual.

Stewing over all the negative criticisms I've gotten in recent months and all the things I need to do/learn/be got me angrier and angstier and what a load of SHIT today's too nice to spoil on this again.

Drawing Cosumata made it a little better only not, since it's the same old stiff-framed-awkward-shaped-anime(wtf why does everyone think I draw anime?) bullshit I'm always doing.

WHATEVER

Entry up early so I have NOTHING ELSE TO DRAW except for this poster. It needs to get done tonight or not at all, and I smell failure.

Nurrr I am sorry but I have never thought "anime" when I see your stuff.

I have always thought more Don Bluth.

I mean maybe you should just affect some really miserably toon style for a month and see if profs start licking your butt? Or maybe just stop drawing humanoids and only draw abstract blobuals. (Or the snails. You're good at snails.)

I know that, for my one year in art classes, the thing most opposite what I wanted to do always got me the most praise. :/

DUDE INSTEAD OF DOING WHAT THEY WANTED I JUST QUIT THOSE FUCKERS THAT REALLY SHOWED THEM except not really.

I DON'T LIKE AVATAR'S ART STYLE MUCH EITHER. All of the girls look exactly the same in the face except for Azula and Mai and that is because Azula has HORRIFIC CORAL LIPSTICK and Mai's face is drawn like ALL THE GUYS' FACES. And there's just lots of things I could grouse about with it but apparently I shouldn't do that too much because people tell me I reproduce that style well.

I mean the ONLY characters in that show that have any real definition visually are the elderly ones that's why I am totally for JeongJeong and Piandao and stuff all the younguns are very blaaaaaaaaaaaaand. THAT'S WHY I WISH SOMEONE ELSE DID THE CHARACTER DESIGNS SORRY BRYKE. Even though Matsumoto's characters all look the same I STILL LIKE HOW THEY LOOK MORE

Dude wtf your stuff doesn't look like that stuff. The show's design is more abstract than yours--yours looks more naturalized.

I liked the shot of the scar from the pilot; it' was all foldy and wrinkled and puffy and PITTED WHERE HIS EYELASHES WERE SUPPOSED TO BE and I thought that was rad.

Matsumoto's stuff is seriously unique looking, though, it's not a style that is easy to just crank out like I think Avatar's style is SINCE THEY ALL LOOK THE SAME REALLY.

I can understand why they dumb it down cause the level of animation they do is INTENSE and it's better to get is as simplistic as possible BUT SRSLY COME ONNNN. GIVE JET A HOOK NOSE LIKE HE WANTS. THE HOOK SWORDS AREN'T ENOUGH.

I actually liked this one in particular precisely because it was so dynamic, not stiff at all. I especially like the mouth and hair.

I think that ever since the anime explosion in the US, people have automatically equated "CG, illustration, lineart, big eyes" with "anime". It's sad.

Art is a very stressful, time-consuming, and frustrating thing, but you're amazing and you'll only continue to get better. Don't fret. :)

Sfhiojds I can understand the need to dumb things down to make things easier to animate but a lot of that anime is barely moving ANYWAY except for the mouths or the little dewey drops of water in their marble EYES but bleeeeeeh. NOSTRILS. I BELIEVE IN THEM. MANNIPPLES TOO. COME ON ANIME.
