Within the past two days I have watched
Rock-A-Doodle
Quest for Camelot
Bambi II
Fantasia 2000
All Dogs Go to Heaven
The first two were...bad. But holyjeez is QfC's soundtrack fabulous. I only vaguely remember watching Rock-A-Doodle as a child and hating it for reasons unknown. But I can guess it was that annoying kid protagonist. And uh...the rest of the movie really lmao. Whatever. Where the story/acting failed, the animation was at least a treat to watch.
I was actually surprised I didn't hate that two-headed dragon as much as I was certain I would. Their musical number was really entertaining. It's a shame the story was so clunky. And olol potion from ACME. Nice. And hey a song I have on an Andrea Bocelli cd that's...interesting.
Baww Bambi's dad. It's not the most impressive movie ever but I liked it. :( Awkward dads hooray. It was cute and well designed. Nothing special, nothing over the top, and thank God no musical numbers. That Allison Krauss song in there was beautiful, too. The deer call was fucking creepy though..,
The segment animating "Rhapsody in Blue" from Fantasia 2000 is one of my favorite pieces of animation ever. I'm a huge retard for Al Hirschfeld. His designs just...they're incredibly alive. It's very New York. Very fluid. And that song is a favorite of mine already, so it all wins. Need to learn not to tear up like a sap watching it. I didn't care much for the segment with the whales, really, but the rest was just captivating. "Carnival of the Animals" is my second favorite for sure, and "Steadfast Tin Soldier" right after that just for its earnestness. That one about the nymph is lovely, too, but it has nothing on Rhapsody. I thought the Noah's Ark one was even better, too, just for how sweet it was and how well-choreographed the whole thing was. Derrr I need this dvd.
