o1 I don't like smut. I don't like smut I don't like smut I don't like smut. Actually, more specifically, I don't like being yanked into smut or having to deal with gratuitous amounts of it when I'd rather...not. I'm not dead, so some days I may be in a more receptive state of mind, but on the whole. No. I don't like it. I don't like it and the emphasis it gets in...everything fandom. If that's your thing, that's fine, but please tell me there's more to talk or write or draw about than characters boning?? Catch me back in my high school days for smut, because I'm...done with it. I don't want it. Porn is ugly to me. The overemphasis of sex in the media makes my stomach churn. It doesn't make me delusional to want to think there's something more out there to strive for than bootybumping, rite? Stop it, media. Stop it, fandom. Stop it.
o2 In that vein, I don't like this pressure to pair thing that happens in every fandom ever. I'm a shipper, don't get me wrong, but...most of my ships don't result in the sexytimes. Because I don't want the smut hey!! I am actually really, really hungry for some really well-played out platonic relationships of all gender mixes, because...they are impossible to find. Best dude friends are suddenly gay. Best chick friends are secretly gay. Best m/f friends are secretly boning or will bone because apparently that's inevitable. I hate that. The dynamics of a platonic relationship interest me way more than bedroom play. I ship Lina/Zel like superhard but. It's...so platonic. I can't brain anything else. And that should be okay, dammit. KEEP YOUR PANTS AND SHIRTS ON, PEOPLE. I guess reading everyone else's blurbs makes this point not so unpopular as I thought, but there it is.
03 People who automatically label and resent furries annoy the shit out of me. Way to practice the intolerance most people on the internet say they preach against. Man, this is why TAE never gets off the ground. I will not be able to handle the backlash of wanting to draw people with tails. Oh my ghjfkdsl. If someone doesn't want to be assumed as part of the fouler part of a group, why do the same for them? I promise you not every furry wants to dress up and hump you. Some folks just like to draw animal people okay. Okay.
Even so, I know there's a lot of weird out there and I avoid it, just because I don't draw furry for a kink. I just like fluffy tails and the noses. 8|; And that should be fine. I'll be. In my corner. Not bothering anyone. It's cool.
o4 I'm trying to practice the "Don't knock it unless you've seen it" thing, because whoa blind fandom hatred is scary. I'm guilty of it myself and I don't like that. I mean, if I want to be somewhat justified in disliking something, it better be because of what I've looked into and not out of gossip. If I'm gonna hate Twilight, I better read up a bit of it just to get a sense of why I should--and I did. But all this other stuff I haven't seen that just annoy me in general...I try to keep my mouth shut. Because what excuse do I have to knock it if I haven't seen it? There's a lot of bandwagoning on the love and hate sides of fandoms and I want to try and keep myself out of that state of mind because whoa. Both sides are really really annoying. I'm sorry/really happy that this show ruined/made your life special, but dude. It's a show. Turn it down. Go outside.
o5 Okay uhh secret. Digimon fic got me into slash in high school lmfao. Some horridly-written, quasi-bondage fic between Ken and Daisuke no less. It confused the fuck out of me but then I started doing searches dohoho. And slash was cool and hot and ~edgy to me up until someone sent me a manga of some dude shoving a film cannister up some other dude's ass. AND THEN I WAS DONE. Seriously. I can't even look at slash smut anymore without that image bubbling back up and ruining my life forever. Sorry. Can't do it. Can't look back. It makes me irrationally suspect of every and any slash relationship out there, even the typically PG ones. Because there's a fan out there shoving film cannisters up their asses, and I just. Can't. Handle it. Nope! Elle doesn't need that in her life.
