what do you read my lord
Oct. 2nd, 2009 10:49 amManga: Hey do you guys remember way back when, like, four chapters ago when Vinland Saga was chock full of suspense and political intrigue and Askeladd and vikings and mostly Askeladd? It feels so far away. I know this is the setup for something intense, but...I just. Don't fucking care about these slaves and master's son and if Thorfinn doesn't shave the Kurt Cobain stubble soon I'm probably just going to cry. 8|
Akaboshi Ibun Suikoden is doing that shonen thing where 600 new characters get intro'd per chapter, and that sort of stuff usually annoys the bajeezus out of me, but damn if they're not all drawn so well. Apparently I am prone to so-called superficial aspects in order to stick with reading something. And by 'reading' I mean 'glazing over whatever the hell that guy with the creepyass eyelashes was saying and getting straight to the fighting'. Huh. This apparently doesn't carry over into other media, since I tried reading through the Phoenix Requiem and pretty much gave the fuck up when Ellerton typed "hung" instead of "hanged". At least the pace is less painfully slow as her first comic.
I almost care about Fairy Tail again. Probably because this shit is almost over with Nirvana and Gerard and bleeblooblah. And I do very much like this Wendy person and hope she sticks around well after this arc gets over. She is tiny and cute and cures motion sickness. Kind of an asset. Actually, maybe I really hate this arc because it's called Nirvana. It's entirely possible.
I. I need more Dengeki Daisy like now.
Okay *slaps manga aside MY PULL LIST WAS TINY THIS WEEK.
Power Girl #5: Not as fun as the last four. :\ I mean, the cat-washing scene was priceless, but idk. Reading this and JSA side-by-side kind of throws me. Prrrobably because JSA doesn't get a lot of opportunities for PeeGee snark (or PeeGee has just gotten overly-snarky in her own solo due to the writer's style), and because apparently no two artists can agree on her damn hairstyle. Whatever, it's a set-up issue. Six will be entertaining. :V
Blackest Night: Superman #2: Woweewow I don't care about Supergirl's exploits with zombie!dad!!! BUT IT'S OKAY she only had like two pages and the cover. General fighting, general "Kal-L! Snap out of it!" from Supes, herpaderpalerpa. The opening was equal parts hilarious and terrifying, because apparently, to this artist, "happiness" in Smallville denotes TERRIFYING, BUG-EYED GRINNING AS ONE VISITS THE BARBER. But I don't care about that. I care that ~*Psycho PIrate*~ is back on the scene making old ladies dry hump college boys. Oh and turning Superboy against Superman or something lol.
I like Psycho Pirate. :')
Blackest Night: Titans #2: My exploits with Donna Troy extend only to the collected arc of "Who is Donna Troy?" and "The Death and Return of Donna Troy", and from there I...guess she's okay. She doesn't resonate with me short of her amazing costume which I really like, but in this issue? Girl you stupid. FOR ONE THING wasn't her child killed when he was a toddler? AND SECONDLY yes I understand that Terry was absolutely creepy as hell when he was alive, but that doesn't excuse you not freaking the hell out when he's a zombie (actually, he's creepier alive than he is dead). But whatever. Looks like you got the zombie disease.
Aaand I don't care about the rest of the issue. Lilith, bla bla never liked you. Onslaught of other dead Titans who I don't really recognize, derp.
Oh wait, I did like the Hawk and Dove pages. The fact that the Doves can't resonate with the Black Lantern readings is pretty cool, and I hope she gets a big role coming up. Makes me think of that white lantern shit.
Justice Society of America #31: I like everyone well enough so far? Except Magog. Magog looks too 90s for me. Golden armored ram's horn helmet no. Pretty sure that King Cobra guy or whatever is behind Mister Terrific's death, but if I'm pretty sure about anything I'm probably wrong. He both annoys and delights me, and looks like the sort who would own every The Cure album? Dialogue was pretty engaging, but these poor old guys can't catch a break. :'(
I FORGOT TO PICK UP ADVENTURE COMICS #2 AGAIN WHAT IS MY LIFE I will just have to keep editing my pull list every single visit until they hate me.
Next week iiis...Doom Patrol. And that's it. :| And the following week is Adventure Comics, Booster Gold, Blackest Night Batman (I think they forgot to hold a copy of #2 for me...), and Green Lantern Corps. :V So I will go back in two weeks to waste more money.
Or go back in one week, get AC#2, DP#3, inquire about the Batman, and pickup another JSA trade, resulting in the wasting of even more more money. 8|

Date: 2009-10-02 05:37 pm (UTC)Hey ian
Hey ian
Suggest me some marvel / send me some things becuase since I'm applying for a job there it'd be a good idea if I actually
knew things besides Nextwave
Like seriously, the extent of my knowledge of Marvel is this:
1. Nextwave is the greatest piece of literature ever written
2. A Deadpool Is Fine Too But I've Never Read Anything With Him In It
3. Ultimates is trying a little too hard to be Darker and Edgier.
4. The 90's was hilarious. But that's true of like, everything.
5. One More Day I know of only because my friend is a Spider Man fan and he flipped every table in existence when it happened and wouldn't stop ranting for a week.
Things I like
1. Robots
2. X-men tv show was my childhood
3. Exploding
4. Things that have a sense of humor

I like Donna, I do. I really do. But you know who I like more?
ZOMBIE TERRY AND HIS FLYING ZOMBIE BEBE.
Which I've been spouting off for the last two days now at any given situation. "YEAH? WHAT ABOUT ZOMBIE TERRY?" and I immediately win any conversation.
I never liked Terry.
But I like zombie Terry.
