I understand. The concept for my older brother was hard to grasp about me (though we're 2 years apart).
...but my form of "partying hard" is staying up until 4AM at a friend's place drinking cola while watching everyone else telling amusing stories while they're tanked and waiting for something to smash. It's always fun watching different ways people handle their liquor too. I could drink, but I don't like the taste/sensation of alcohol in general, so no partying hard for me.
I have to mix mine with something to make it drinkable. I used to be afraid that if I started to drink alcohol, I'd turn into an alcoholic, but I can't even handle a tiny sip of beer so I think I'm good.
Yeah that's all well and fine I just was really surprised when she said she was going to do that she doesn't really look the type and my brain went "BUT YOU'RE LITTLE AND oh you're 21..,.,.,"
Whereas my baby brother just got back from a very (no, really) chaste party wearing a suit and bowler, and twirling a cane, looking for all the world like a blonde version of John Steel.
...they grow up so fast.
No, seriously, I know what you mean. I met my little sister's boyfriend for reals fairly recently. He comes to the library pretty often. I...Do Not Care For Him. This is my baby sis, man. She's still...like, seven or something, I think. Y'know? All I can think is "WHEN DID YOU START LIKING BOYS?! AND THIS DRIVING THING WHAT IS THAT PLEASE?!"
Ah, it was a "banquet" for the high school kids at my mom's church (and since mom teaches there, Jack got to go). They're, um...just this (or maybe that) side of being Pentecostal, so...apparently, it wasn't so much a party as a nice dinner and all. No dancing or anything.
Yeah. The big kicker for all of us was when my best friend's little sister (who my brother has a crush on) started high school this year. She was kind of the last tiny-one left, and now she hangs out with us and holds her own. It's...weird.
I sent you a message. I'm notifying you in a comment because I know I often overlook those LJ PMs a lot of the time. It might have sent twice because my internet had a hiccup--sorry about that.
As for this matter with your sister... I can only say you're being eerily calm about it.
