Props for John Stewart almost serving a purpose in this event somehow at least now! Better late than never, right. But really all he's doing is spewing off BACK IN THE WAR DAY stuff while he does the same shit everyone else is doing, so it's not all that moving.

Power Girl 10: I hope that little doofus is a mainstay character in this series, because he's kind of precious. I wonder if the freckled redheaded derp buddy thing is a for legit parody of Supes and Jimmy or not, because if it isn't, I'll be a little annoyed by the coincidence. ASLO WAO THAT TERRA TWEEST. I hadn't expected that, which is cool! I think the next couple issues will be fun (AND THEN THE CREATIVE TEAM SWAPS OUT AND WE ALL SOB).
Also the cover is full of little title drop goodies. Jonah Hex, Blue Beetle, Wondie, etc. I mean, okay the whole comic book scene is laden with it obvsly, but I enjoy those sorts of things.
Can I also take a minute to sigh and laugh at these damn Colgate tribute ads to DC? Picking out "best kisses" or something, a new one each week or month or whatever, and this round's is TIM AND CASSIE? Lol. No. Move it along.

Superman: Secret Origin 1-4: AM I NOT SUPPOSED TO ADORE THIS OR SOMETHING CAUSE DIDN'T I JUST GO THROUGH BIRTHRIGHT LIKE THREE MONTHS AGO (I mean okay Birthright's been out for a while but). Maybe the question here is DOES ELLE EVER NOT LIKE A SUPERMAN ORIGIN STORY? Because I don't think I'll ever get sick of them. This one is so precious, too. The art and the dialogue are both so attention-grabbing. I MEAN OKAY, sometimes the artist makes the heads too big for the bodies on the kids? BUT I MEAN COME ON I LIKE CAPTAIN HARLOCK AND THAT SHOW'S LADEN WITH HEAD-TO-BODY PROPORTIONAL NIGHTMARES. I can let it fly.

Granted sometimes the fact that the artist neglects to define an upper lip makes his smiles look kind of ridiculous, BUT REALLY. Come on. It's cute. :'|

And Lex. Oh, Lex. Always drawn a little over-the-top angry, but the whole interaction in the library had me laughing. In Birthright they were more buddy-buddy than this? So I don't know if this new origin story retcons that or whatever.

The page immediately following Clark shuts down Lana and it's pretty glorious and self-contained and hurrah! MOVING ON. Because the baby Legion of Superheroes shows up to say hay sup and have him visit the future which is more all kinds of precious. :') They're really depicted as quite juvenile and youthful and I love that.

And Krypto shows up in a nicely planned sequence that doesn't drag on or pass for too vague IT WAS GREAT. And Lex's dad dies and he's all "YEssss" and we end. AAAaa this issueeee.

OKAY MOVING ON.

Because issue 3 is full of the damn derpiest shit ever and reminds me of exactly why I LOVE CLARK KENT. God. I mean the first word out of his mouth on the first page is "Gee". FFff. The tone and atmosphere of Metropolis is so palpable and starkly different from Smallville and it's presented so well in all of his interactions. I mean, it sometimes feels like it got laid on real thick? But it's Clark. He's a dork, especially from the getgo. It happens.

God and Lois is such a FIERCE BITCH. LOVE IT. LOVE HER. We are subjected to WALLS of bantertext with her appearance, but it is not even a chore because it reads so naturally. The pacing of action to dialogue is pretty fairly balanced so you don't zone out in the middle of a panel or word bubble. And Jimmy is adorable. I haven't read any of the hideousness that's been done with him in DC canon lately but here I was just like "aw you pathetic meatsack".

There is more charming Clois interplay with a nice little blatant "Lois and Clark" drop. Stuff happens and Lois ends up falling off a building AS SHE IS APT TO DO FOR SOME REASON. Homegirl and gravity just don't like each other too much. AND SOMETHING THAT JUST STRUCK ME JUST NOW GOING BACK is that when Clark hears her faraway call for help, the next panel is actually shaped like an exclamation point as he looks up and wonders what he heard. LMFAO THAT IS SO CHARMING.

The catch is cute, too, but seriously the artist needs to give Clark his upper lip back because some of these smiles are more than borderline creepy. :| I think he just designs it too thin so it looks like it isn't there, cause sometimes it's defined.

So ish 3 wraps up after savin' us some Lois and being all introspectivey and then 4 kicks in and stuff happens and I'D CAP MORE BUT COMICAL'S BEING A SLOW BITCH TODAY.

So maybe y'all should just get these scans yourself and enjoy because YOU WILL ENJOY.

JUST KIDDING ONE MORE BECAUSE THE INTERACTION WITH JIMMY IS STUPIDLY PRECIOUS TOO
