DRAW ORIGINAL SHIT EVERY DAY NO EXCEPTIONS

So I was tagged by
radical_jojo to give 8 facts about Chemin out of curiosity's sake. Here they are--
o1. Chemin is "rooted". When he was a little boy, the gales came to his bedroom to take him away and keep him as their own child (his mother is the northwestern wind in a temporary solid body, y'see; it was family business). Viyle the Anduist was sent for and drew him back and rooted him to the mortal body he was about to abandon.
o2. He is still a dual creature. Despite having accepted mortality, Chemin's nature makes him very attuned to the unseen world via sound. He can hear true wind and has qualities in his own form that allow him to move lightly, speak the windspeak, and, when he gets a little better about it, take on intangible forms for brief periods--always rooted, though. He can't drift away too long.
o3. The speaking problem. He never spoke until he was five. Everyone but his mother was really worried about this (but his mom's kind of loopy what with not being genuinely mortal and all) and spent a lot of time trying to coax words out of him, but no dice. It was only after they gave up that he made sounds and gave it a shot, but only sparingly. Even now he has a hard time deciphering language and utilizing it, and it takes him a long time to process and reply. He's getting better at it thanks to Iore never shutting up.
o4. His temper. Chemin actually...has a pretty bad temper, but it doesn't manifest in ways people would expect from an angry person. No yelling, no angryfaces. The only real indicator that he's mad at someone or something is the sudden need to be doing something else that takes his attention away from the problem, and if he can't find something to do, he paces. A lot of his frustration comes from trying to talk to people when it counts and he can't make the words come out.
o5. He's very non-committal. Like his mother, he has a tendency to duck and evade tasks that require a lot of his attention or aren't at all what he'd like to do (like, say...be the protagonist who has to do lots of political shit lolol). Shifty like the wind. Sure, he can be pressured or scared into doing things, but it won't be his best efforts, only doing as much as is required to make something done. No more, no less. Even the stuff that is VERY FRIGGIN IMPORTANT is hard for him to tackle head-on by himself. Hence the support group to kick him in the ass. Constantly.
o6. Swordplay. He's been trained for single combat with light blades since he was eleven and it's practically second nature to him. The only problem is the fact that it was...uh. Never really drilled into his head as something he'd need to do to legitimately kill to survive and such, so he's actually pretty terrible in a fight. That's getting worked on, too.
o7. The staring problem. Chemin stares. A lot. Like...anime-characters-who-never-blink-during-a-long-monologue lot. It's the best way he knows how to glean information, and he's very keen on memorizing faces and gestures. The more ornate or attractive the thing he's looking at, the longer he'll stare and the better he'll remember later on. It's very unnerving, obviously, and it does get him into trouble a lot more without him really understanding why. Even worse is that he may be staring at someone who's talking? But there's no guarantee anything they've said actually stuck. In one ear, out the other. lMAO WHY IS THIS CHARACTER SO USELESS..,
o8. He's 19. Yyyyep.
Man I can barely keep my eyes open yet I'm starving THIS IS A REAL DILL OF A PICKLE

Date: 2010-06-20 04:00 am (UTC)His staring problem reminds me of the first time my parents took me to the orthodontist to get braces. He was an Indian man who was trying to explain all the seriousness of having braces etc. but all I did was stare at him. And he was upside down so all I remember is that his face looked like an octopus. I remember nothing of what was actually said to me. Haha...
Awesome pictures too. ♥
