Oogh. I'm redefining the notion of being "worried sick".
• I think my body's telling me that dinner every day is a requirement, because...ghnnvhg. This morning is rough. Hopefully I start to feel up to snuff in a couple hours, because I'd rather not have to call off work. You only get so many hours, and minimum wage is minimum enough, y'know? I think I better start nosing around for a second job (I typo'd that dog; dangit mom and Belle stop distracting me). By the time August hits, something should open up with all the baby college kids dropping hours to focus on their shiny, new studies. I don't think I can go another winter season without income, not with the way it affected my savings this past summer.
• Mom and Dad are back from Tennessee. They brought me back sommore things for my 'holy bling', as it were--I have a silver chain loaded with medals and collected things. They got me a colored cross (turquoise on one side, red on the other) and a new medal of St. Lucy that's different than the one I already have. It has the Sacred Heart on the back, too, so it's double nice. I'd like to hope that the weight of all these things and the jingle as I move and walk will remind me of important things, especially when I'm feeling extra petty or cranky.
• Riverfest tickets. Livenation is selling fourpacks for 93 dollars. I want I want I want. I want. Avett Brothers, Justin Nozuka, and One Eskimo for 93 dollars. I'm trying to convince the parents to take advantage of this and make it our ~mini family vacation~ since I. Don't have a lot of friends in close proximity for things like this. Unless a few of y'all would like to suddenly be up in Michigan and rock out with me for a night--this would be acceptable.
• Speaking of eventful Saturdays, if I can get one off in the near future (curse you, Jim--stop plotting my entire month of work ahead of me!), the fam and I will take the long and farm-filled journey to Carey, Ohio and attend a mass at the basilica. And this time we'll actually find it, not like...that little adventure last year that some may recall. Oh, Ohio. :|
• Aaa, I am starting to feel better now. Good.
• There's footage of the tornado and damage from the storm days previously. You can see my Uncle Bob's yard at :40 in the first clip! I recognize the other neighbor's shed. LMAO OH MY GOD MY GRADE/HIGHSCHOOL CLASSMATE FRANK AT 1:40 IN THE SECOND CLIP. He lives a few houses down lmaoooo FRANK UR ON THE TV INTERNETS. Dad: "BUT WHERE'S HIS PARROT SHIRT?"
Our little town making little headlines on our little corner of the world, teehee.
• Haha, now I'm feeling a lot better.
Ah, yeah, I got some questions from the resident
sentienttoaster that I can put in here, too, because surely you're not sick of reading this post already!
o1. Do you have recurring dreams? I don't, not entirely. Sometimes I'll have fragments I remember dreaming before (like stealing Lion King DVDs from a mall) or the mood will be the same, just with different people. Lots of people yell at me in my dreams. You guys are subconsciously mean to me aren't you. :(
o2. What was your favorite cartoon as a kid? I think it depends on what year, because I watched and loved so many. Big favorites I remember the best were things like The Real Adventures of Johnny Quest, Sonic Satam cartoon and the Sonic Underground one (I was dedicated to that one; I'd get up at 5am to watch it), Swat Kats, the Pirates of Dark Water, and Sailor Moon. The common link through all of these was the presence of a pretty-yet-badass lady (Jesse, Sally, Sonia lol shush i was like 9, Mrs. Briggs, Tula, and I liked Mars the best in SM) that I tried to emulate.
Once I got my mitts on Slayers, though, that all went to the wayside and I had a NEW FAVORITE FOREVER. Sigh.
o3. What is your favorite and least favorite thing about Michigan? I think my favorite thing about MI is the fact that all of my Dad's side of the family regroups here. Not everyone still lives here, like my godparents or their kids, but when events happen both good and bad, everyone is in the same place. I could live at college and still come home on the weekends. They can be kind of insufferable or distancing at times, but I love them a lot and I need them close to me.
The worst thing, though, is a tossup between a constant and a variable. The weather is constantly hideous, in that we go from one extreme to the other at the drop of a hat, and winters are especially vicious because of the Great Lakes working their magic. It always rains on Halloween. Always. And our summers have just...really stifling humidity because of the river. It really hurts my knees, and everyone else has like allergies forever.
The variable is the economy, but it's pretty bad. We have the highest unemployment rate in the country, and all this Obamarama construction jobs stuff is...just a temporary patch for only those guys that can do 'em. It's making it a pain to get anywhere, too, for those of us blessed with jobs to get to. 8'| With all the drama going on in Detroit lowering morale (SHUT UP FOREVER KWAME KILPATRICK), it just...It can feel pretty hopeless at times. I don't want to have to move out of state to get work, but it seems almost inevitable to some. :\
o4. What is the deal with your default icon? LMAO fkd. It's just. Two, three years ago? When I genuinely started collecting comics and stuff (I'm still a relative comic noob??), I was delighted to get hold of a couple of the few trades of the New Teen Titans that were available at Ben's. Beast Boy's face was in it and I scanned it and I shared with with KC chat and they were like "hideous" and then I iconned it. I actually didn't default it for a while, because I had this shitty bird icon trying to be consistent with my layout, but eventually I decided to click that default button and that's...how it's been ever since. I think I defaulted it in '08 and I don't think I can ever change it. Ever. Some people find it terrifying and others don't see the big deal, but either way, I seem pretty defined by it. WHAT A FACE TO BE KNOWN FOR RITE.
o5. If you were Batman, who would you choose to be your Robin? Dre. Except I'd probably need a backup Robin because Dre has a tendency to melt to the floor like toothpaste so I'll have a tagteam of Robins. Noodles you can be the backup Robin.
And now it's music tiiiime DOUBLE MUSIC I FORGOT YESTERDAY
30 days of music
24. A song that you want to play at your funeral
Idk why this would be an option, because a funeral is really just for the grievers and not the dead person, but if I had a say, I'd want the music to be something that embraces a bit more hopefully than anything. And I'm banning Sarah McLachlan or whatever because I've gone to too many funerals with her music and it's awful every single time. Dnw.
