o9. Your beliefs
I thought about this prompt a whole lot and probably thought up essays upon essays upon essays, but I'm not sure how articulate I am to make something come across without it getting lost in the text translation. At the same time, I didn't feel it was right to be so PC about it, since it seems that's the only safe way to express yourself (unless your interests are in the majority at any given time or place). Even so, I decided on list form for briefness and a means to keep my thoughts in some kind of order, lest they ooze all over everything and make a mess.

• I believe in the Christian God, three-in-one, as revealed through scripture and the Catholic church. I believe in the power of Mary and the intercession of the saints and the guidance of angels.
• I believe anyone who condemns someone through hatred in the name of a god or higher principle is kidding themselves and that sense of misguided self-righetousness that moves them, and may very well be worse off than the people they're condemning.
• I believe that faith is as active and prone to change as all things alive, requiring care and nurturing for it to grow one way or the other. Someone who says they're something without really knowing what that something is truly isn't that something at all.
• I believe in the power of common courtesy and a little eye contact now and then to make a person feel like a person, even if you'll never meet again.
• I believe in the natural sense of right in wrong imbedded in humans and the responsibilities it lays on us as higher thinkers in our world.
• I believe all things were made to be good and that evil is not its own entity, but an aberration like rot or decay.
• I believe even the most foul and cold-blooded person can be redeemed if that's what they want; I believe we will all have what we want at the end.
• I believe our culture is self-destructive and parasitic on us on many levels, but we are too lazy to do anything about it, preferring to go with the status-quo rather than make the effort to better it.
• I believe that cynicism isn't very constructive, though, and that even the smallest positives should be respected and appreciated while building on them to make things better.
• I believe life starts at conception.
• I believe pineapple is extremely disgusting and I'll never eat it again.
• I believe the idolization of youth is one of the roots of our culture's unhappiness.
• I believe Adam Sandler to be a poor actor and ultimately unfunny.
• I believe we pay our athletes too much and our educators too little.
• I believe reality TV glorifies the wrong behavior.
• I believe there will be an end, but not 2012 by Mayan predictions (and I believe I am going to go bonkers if people take that shit seriously the next couple of years)
• I believe in ghosts and the afterlife.
• I believe there could be more alive out there in the universe except us.
• I believe there are and always will be things that mankind cannot grasp, and that one doesn't need to see to believe.
• I believe everyone has the right to pursue what makes them happy (so long as that happiness doesn't harm others, like if kicking puppies makes you happy for some reason-- stop that)
• I believe that things are going to be hard for a while, but that we can endure if we keep trying.
• I believe curling is an awesome sport and that it's at least better than tennis.

That's actually something that really, really bothers me! Sports are great and w/e but damn. Education is SO INCREDIBLY IMPORTANT and how is it supposed to get better if the educators themselves aren't given the means or extra support needed to help people grow?

the only one I vehemently disagree with is the conception part...

because if did, I would have some severe moral dilemmas when I start up the research/experimenting I will be doing in my intended career. (stem cell research, etc)
