Just how in the hale... I feel like I'm in the 1800s all of a sudden. And ugh some of these comments on this post make me wanna flip people. At the same time, if it was a bunch of derelict buildings getting toasted...Mmmh...

But this made me smirk: Folks on the block say...
FOLKS? IN MY LOCAL JOURNALISM? I thought 'folks' was a little too hokey for ~professional reporting~. WELL IF IT'S NOT I'M GOING TO UTILIZE IT FROM NOW ON AND FEEL JUSTIFIED IN MY WORK.

And it's really not a day in Detroit without a shooting. Happy first day of school, kids! Except you two that got shot. Oh. Hrr. What the hell is wrong with people.

*scrolling through headlines..

Oh. And a hit and run. Killin' a cop. Ugh. What the hell is wrong with people.

All this and a classy Hollywoodish screening of a new tv show downtown. BUSINESS NOT AS USUAL.

Detroit...

Probably never.

But I have a good feeling about this OneofUs gig. And a good feeling that I won't see a lot of income out of it. But it's film. And the director is interested in utilizing me to storyboard a film project coming sometime in Novemberish and that is exactly where I'd like to be.

And now not only do I need to set aside money for New York, I need to set some aside for a new Mac. This processor is way too old. I can't run AfterEffects on here. :\ But a thousand dollars is a lot of money that I can't just blow in one huge chunk. Maybe my parents would help shoulder the cost as a Christmas present. Even just zapping it down to $700 is a lot to ask, but I feel like I could somehow manage it once I beat my credit card balance down a bit more. It's back over $500 again, ergh.

And a PC is out of the question, if only because I don't feel like rebuying expensive software I already have and can just reinstall. And because Windows isn't as nice to like at, ahurr.

I discovered pickles are extremely disgusting and I will never eat them again in my life. But aside from that, the pita was good today.

Detroit is a strange place. I've heard people say it's what will happen to major cities when they die. I guess I still have some desire to defend it since I live so close, but it's a scary place to me. We roll in, see a show, a game, grab a hamburger, get the hell out before dark, then turn on the news to hear about the shooting six blocks over. Detroit. I'd hate to hate you, but it's hard to love you.

I'm looking forward to the $150-$200 check on Wednesdayish. I hope Sue has more work for me so I can keep on keepin' on. It's helping a lot.

I'm really tired of being grown up, guys.

PS. [livejournal.com profile] fairyblue I'm coming to your apartment and I'm going to hit you.

I'm calling it the "Canton/Dearborn Effect". Because everything is normal and safe up until you pass the Canton or Dearborn exits. This...insane personality shift on the roads. SPEED LIMITS HAHA WHAT SPEED LIMITS clearly you misread the "800 MPH" signs along the Southfield Freeway as 55. Better get those glasses checked! Seriously I am amazed. And how many cutoffs do I see in a day driving back and forth on it. THESE DENSELY-POPULATED-SUBURBANITE DRIVERS ARE INSANE. I hope to never have to experience these roads when snow falls. No wonder there's always an accident reported somewhere around there. 8|;;

Got another half hour before my boss at this shoe job rolls in to tell me what's next. The work's been steady, but not overwhelming. I feel pretty good about a number of them, and a little "ehh" about others. I can tweak them as time goes on, I suppose. When she said "sketch" artist I assumed...sketchier, but I'm finding myself having to clean up things for a more...Powerpoint-presentation-ish look.

Shoulda eaten something other than that dinky Rice Krispies treat.

I ganked like a zillion meme templates off of Deviantart for no other purpose than to try and kickstart my brain. I'm feeling a little tapped out. No muy bien.

For the sake of making a purchase on my card for the month, I bought the last volume of Baccano!. Noticed some things I was...pretty oblivious to the first watch. Might have to marathon it again to see what else flew over my head. This is what happens when you watch shows in a tollbooth with the sun out making it a strain.

I also wish GemCraft didn't exist that was precious hours of my life frittered away into the abyss.
