twice an hour
Mar. 15th, 2008 11:47 pmI actually got physically TAGGED for something holy crap it's been ages THANK YOU
1. list your top five favorite musical artists (in no particular order!).
2. list your top five favorite songs from each artist.
3. tag five people to do the same
I'm embedding sample stuff too because that's cool and you can sample shit and that's cool too..
1. Matisyahu
REGGAE HASIDIC JEW MUSIC STUFF. It's 9,000 times better than it sounds, and it ALREADY sounds great. No. Really. I cannot really explain how I moved to adore this guy so much but I could listen to his music all day and all night and be happy the whole time. He can sing and rap and beatbox and just be awesome.
--Fire of Heaven/Altar of Earth
--Jerusalem
--Dispatch the Troops
--Time of Your Song
--King Without a Crown (the obligatory favorite!)
2. Nickel Creek
I was against them at first because my Dad bought them and he'd been on this scary bluegrass streak that brought about the horrors of Bill Monroe and other things that made my teeth grind. BUT. These guys are great. Hyper-talented, with beautiful vocal harmonies and haunting story-songs and crazy instrumentals. Hell, Chris Thile, the lead vocal and mandolin player made a tutorial video on how to play mandolin when he was fourteen. He's brilliant.
--In the House of Tom Bombadil (bonus points for being my favorite Tolkien character)
--Sweet Afton
--The Lighthouse's Tale
--When in Rome
--Doubting Thomas
3. Tiësto
All his cds now have the "OMG BEST DJ IN THE WORLD LOL BUY BUY BUY" sticker. That's kinda neat--I like him enough to appreciate that! Because I need consistency, and he does consistent, thematic mixes. Also he dances like a retard. I can't say he ALWAYS does, but whenever I've seen clips of him jamming at his mixing boards...Lord.
--Victorious
--Athena
--Olympic Flame
--He's a Pirate (Tiësto Remix)
--Like a Waterfall (part of the In Search of Sunrise mixes)
4. Juno Reactor
Apparently mostly known for doing that final battle music stuff from the Matrix series, but I totally never watched those films and got introduced to them by a long-ago acquaintence. Tribal, techno...something. Hard to describe other than AWESOME OKAY.
--Hotaka
--God is God
--Zwara
--Conquistador (part 1)
--Pistolero
5. Frank Sinatra
Yes. I love Frankie. SHUT YOUR MOUTH. Don't you talk smack about Frankie. Him singing 'Angel Eyes' is just ahiogfjerwaghiodsajfgdskk
--The Lady is a Tramp
--Angel Eyes
--My Funny Valentine
--Night and Day
--I've Got the World on a String
And you know I never understood those barnyard Looney Tunes cartoons where Foghorn Leghorn's trying to get all the hens' attentions and there's always this skinny, blue-eyed, singing rooster named Frankie, and all the hens freak out and go "OH FRAAAAAAAAAAAAAYYYNKIEEEEEEE" and faint
so now I know lol.
OH SHIT TAGGING LOL almost forgot.
